Other things to do in Nottingham

The convention will formally open on Friday evening (with two workshops in the afternoon for earlier arrivals). See the Programme section for more information on the schedule and content.

If you're arriving in Nottingham before then and want to see something of the local area, a few suggestions from local fans are set out here.

Nottingham Castle and caves

A historic gatehouse leads the way to a local museum and gallery, plus hourly tours of the castle caves (lots of steps).

City of Caves

Not to make you paranoid about the labyrinth of caves below the streets of Nottingham, this is a separate family attraction with several tours available.

You can also buy joint tickets for this and…

The Galleries of Justice

Based in Nottingham's old courthouse and county gaol, the Galleries include a museum of crime and punishment, special exhibitions and a tour. Tentative Robin Hood connection available.

City walks

There's a recommended route around the city which takes you past these attractions and various other landmarks. And a choice of 11 other walking routes here, for which you can also download an iOS or Android app. Please note we haven’t tried these out.

If you're at least as interested in the drinks on offer, you might want to check out the local good pub guide or CAMRA's own walking – or crawling – tour. We’ll provide more information at the con about pubs and restaurants near the hotel.
